We have a wonderful group of Vendors at the 2011 National Specialty. Many of them have donated merchandise for our auctions and raffle. Please take the time to visit their booths, and while visiting pickup something special for your four-footed friend ... or just as important ... for Yourself!

The Havanese Club of Southern California Challenge Trophy

A Special Thank You to The Havanese Club of Southern California who will be offering

 

The Havanese Club of Southern California Challenge Trophy,

an Original Work of Art by Glass Artist (Value not less than $300.00. This Trophy is offered for competition at the Havanese Club of America National Specialty Shows only, with this trophy being held by the Havanese Club of Southern California. For permanent possession, the trophy must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog, nor at consecutive shows. A smaller trophy will be awarded to each owner for permanent possession.

Speaker Change

AKC Joins Our National

American Kennel Club Joins HCA at National

As you are aware, the Headquarters of the American Kennel Club (AKC) are just a few miles from the hotel where the 2011 Havanese Club of America National Specialty is being held. Thanks to the efforts of Jane Ruthford, the AKC will making this year’s National even more special.

John Lyons, AKC Chief Operating Officer, will be speaking at our Annual Meeting on Friday, July 22^nd. The meeting is held one hour after completion of the day’s judging.

Mari-Beth O’Neill, AKC Staff member, will be speaking to our Juniors. This event is still being coordinated with the Chair of our Juniors Committee. Juniors, watch for more information.

Tours of AKC Headquarters have been scheduled through Keith L. Frazier of AKC. To accommodate as many individuals as possible, two tours have been scheduled for Wednesday, July 20^th.

The first tour will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. This includes travel time to and from AKC. The second tour will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Again, travel time included.

Videos on DVD

This year for the 2011 National we will once again be using National Show Dog Video Pros as our videographer. If you are unable to attend National (you better have a pretty good excuse not to), you will be able to watch on streaming video. How to do that will be announced at a later date.

If you have interest in the 2010 National in San Mateo DVD's, they can be purchased by clicking HERE. This will also be the website where you can purchase the DVD's of the 2011 National.

Havanese T's

Lynne Lightweiss is going to be offering some beautifully decorated T's. If you would like to purchase one prior to National, please contact Lynne at designs@chancetts.com. The T's are $35.00 each, with a portion going to HCA. The T's will also be offered at National on the Merchandise table.

Trophy Time!

 From the 2011 National Trophy Chair:

Here we go. Trophy sponsorships are now available for the HCA National & Regional Specialties, and the Performance Events to be held in Durham North Carolina on July 20, 21, 22, & 23, 2011.

There are several ways to support our 2011 event, you could sponsor a trophy all by yourself or how about several of you going together and sponsoring a trophy? All you need to do is use a code to pay your portion.  The process set up by Claudie and her team was such a huge success I will continue with it. I can explain how to do it easily if you want to contact me or my superb assistants. 

Upon receiving sponsorship confirmations, we send out each of you instructions on how to pay your portion.  There is also a fund code at the end of the list that you can send money into...any amount you desire! 

We know it is hard times now for all. You can go the HCA parent website, www.havanese.org, then click on the left for the "trophy payments". It tells you what is necessary to process your payments. Several of you may also split your contributions into a couple of payments that is fine too; we just need to know that you are doing it! We will be glad work out anything necessary to have a great 2011 National Specialty event! !

RV Parking Update

Yes, there will be RV Parking. You can sign up for RV Parking when you fill out your OnLine Registration Form. The cost is $30.00 per night. Plan on "dry camping" your entire stay. There will be no water, electric, or sewer hookups available. We hope to provide a pump out service (depends on number of RV's registered), and we're looking into providing a water fillup. Podcasting Comes to National 2011

Have you ever listened to the Podcasts made available on iTunes from the Canine Health Foundation? I have always downloaded them to my iPhone and listen to them while traveling, or taking my morning bike ride.

Well, Connie Field, who produces the CHF Podcasts, has offered (an offer that has been accepted) to produce Podcasts of the seminars at National 2011! This means that you will always have a copy of the highlights of each seminar. If you are unable to attend National 2011, or one of the seminars, you will have the Podcast to listen to. How cool is that?
